Melbourne Metropolitan Sinfonietta

The Melbourne Metropolitan Sinfonietta is the brainchild of composer, Michael Bakrnčev. At the core of our work is a shared principle of good quality music making.

 

Consisting of 18 players, the ensemble's format is based on sinfoniettas that have come before us, particularly the London Sinfonietta. With a reduced orchestra size, our aim is to perform and reperform new works by Australian composers and arrangements of traditional works from within the orchestral canon.

 

All works are specifically written for our ensemble and instrumentation. With reduced forces across the entire orchestra, the Sinfonietta brings a unique element of chamber music sound that sets us apart
